The Climate Investment Funds (CIF), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and a range of multi-sector partners have come together to finance a record-breaking solar power facility in Jordan. The project is Jordan's largest private-to-private solar complex, expected to produce 70 gigawatt hours (GWh) of energy and reduce carbon emissions by 41,500 tons every year.
Jordan has seen a remarkable rise in solar power capacity, jumping from around 20 megawatts (MW) in 2012 to over 1,000 MW this year. A reported 1.2 GW is under construction or development.
