The Climate Investment Funds is joining the Asia Pacific Climate Week (APCW) in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, to discuss the power of climate finance with our partners in the region. CIF will also be leading an official APCW event held on November 16, 2023 - Between Crises: Role of Climate Finance in Facilitating a Green & Resilient Recovery. This event will bring together experiences with facilitating a green and resilient recovery. This includes financial efficiency, enabling environments, and innovation, with perspectives from donor and recipient countries and implementation insights from partner multilateral development banks.
Speakers will discuss how to support efforts for green recoveries. For example, they will highlight deploying a mix of interventions, linking smaller technical assistance to larger programs, designing financing platforms, and supporting fragile areas along with activating national strategies, broadening policy dialogue, fostering stakeholder engagement, and facilitating a just transition. These recommendations aim to inform country strategies, mobilize resources, and promote sustainable and equitable economic development.
CIF has strong experience to share in that space. In 2020, CIF's Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) launched the COVID-19 Green and Resilient Recovery Initiative to support countries, including several CIF partners in Asia Pacific, in building back better after the pandemic. Support to over 40 projects addressed immediate needs and barriers to green recovery.
A new study that will be launched at APCW analyzes CIF-TAF experience with the role of technical assistance in supporting holistic responses to global crises and enabling green and resilient recovery. It highlights the CIF-TAF's support in addressing regulatory gaps, kickstarting green markets, and mobilizing capital investments.
