In 2020, the CIF’s Technical Assistance Facility (TAF) launched the COVID-19 Green and Resilient Recovery Initiative to help countries build back back better coming out of the pandemic. Through 40+ funded projects channeled through CIF’s implementing partners , these activities sought to tackle immediate needs while addressing key barriers to green recovery by providing non-lending or analytical support to encourage enabling environment reforms, policy & investment lending, as well as knowledge sharing and operational support to MDBs.
A new study has collected and analyzed data from this pipeline to synthesize lessons learned on the crucial role of technical assistance in supporting holistic responses to global crises and enabling green and resilient recovery activities during periods of instability. Through such funding, the CIF-TAF has been supporting governments to address regulatory gaps, design & execute measures to kickstart markets for green goods & services, and undertake activities that can mobilize capital investments.
The event will convene a high-level panel to share key takeaways on best practices to approaching global recovery and resilience in the face of unforeseen events. The discussion will touch upon methods of financial efficiency, creating enabling environments and promoting innovation. Perspectives from both donor (UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, etc) and recipient countries (Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam, etc), and implementation insights from partner MDBs such as Asian Development Bank, World Bank, et al, will also be included.
