Sandra Romboli joined the CIF in May 2016 as a Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, leading the results team of the CIF.
She is an Economist and Evaluator with 18 years of operational, analytical and advisory activities experience acquired within the World Bank, UN, Global Environment Facility and the private sector. She has extensive experience in M&E system development, results and impact management, portfolio analysis and in conducting independent evaluations. Her technical thematic expertise covers climate change, forestry, environment and rural development. Sandra joins the CIF having most recently worked for the World Bank on the environmental portfolio in Ethiopia as a technical expert on M&E, advising and providing M&E support to the Government on flagship programs including the Sustainable Land Management program and the Climate Resilient Green Economy initiative. She was also part of the design team for a new innovative Forest Program combining a grant with an emission reduction purchase agreement at a very large scale, the first of its kind in the World Bank portfolio.
Previously, Sandra worked for the Global Environment Facility for 8 years where she led numerous independent evaluations on policy, thematic and country levels; as well as managing the GEF knowledge and learning team for a period. In her earlier years she was at the International Fund for Agriculture and Development working in one of the operational divisions managing the grant portfolio and Results Based Management System for the Near East and North Africa portfolio. She has varied country experiences in Africa and the Middle East. She holds a Masters in Development Economics and a Masters in Business Administration from Lund University in Sweden.
