The session will discuss trends in international adaptation financing flows to SIDS. Selected country representatives from SIDS will provide an overview of the range of government activities (i.e. planning, policy coordination and implementation, budgeting and financial management, procurement, and monitoring and evaluation) currently being undertaken or considered to access and manage climate change adaptation finance, highlighting both successes and challenges.
Discussions will also focus on how the evolving climate finance architecture responds to loss and damage issues particularly for the SIDS. Speakers will share recommendations for how to tackle some of the SIDS’s major challenges related to financing and technical support requirements to pursue development objectives and climate resilience.
