A cornerstone CIF objective is to provide experience and lessons on climate change through learning-by-doing, and to demonstrate new approaches to technology and finance applications. Capturing the growing bank of CIF knowledge will be a global effort.

This paper reports the results of a qualitative study undertaken to derive lessons from the design and early activities of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF). The study is not intended as an evaluation of any aspect of the Funds, but rather as a way to catalyze, from this early phase forward, reflection and dialogue among all relevant stakeholders aimed at harvesting and applying learning from the CIF experience.

Building Partnerships for Climate Action
Climate Investment Funds 2009 Annual Report
This annual report covers the CIF’s first year of operation (November 1, 2008 to October 31, 2009), describing what the CIF are and how they came about. Its purpose is to make the CIF known to a wide range of stakeholders and to describe the design and early implementation process. So far, there are no results on the ground—programs are in the early stages. But future annual reports will provide a comprehensive analysis of program activities at the country level.
