Description
This was the second webinar of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Webinar Series. It built on the introduction to the CIF, provided in the first webinar, by giving participants a more detailed look at one of the unique and important aspects of the CIF model – the process of developing country-led strategic plans for investing climate finance. Diverse participants from Nepal, Manila, Mexico and the UK shared their perspectives and lessons learned, based on their experiences participating in the CIF investment planning process - specifically in the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) and the Clean Technology Fund (CTF).
Presentations were given by a multilateral development bank team leader, government focal points, and a trust fund committee member. They discussed the elements of a robust investment plan, key aspects and challenges in the process to develop it, and characteristics that make it attractive to international sources of finance. The presentations were each followed followed by a moderated discussion with the CIF Administrative Unit’s Senior Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist. During these discussions, the online and in-person audience had opportunities to engage with the speakers in Q&A.
